There is a new movie out about a young adult with Williams Syndrome, a Canadian film called Gabrielle. It is in French, and hopefully we will see a wider release soon with English subtitles. There is a subtitled trailer from the Toronto Film Festival, and I hope we see a U.S.A. theater release soon.
Of course it gives us much pleasure to see a film about a young person with Williams Syndrome as it continues to raise awareness about the challenges and abilities of people with WS. But it is particularly inspiring to see the young woman with Williams Syndrome, Gabrielle Marion-Rivard, as the starring actress.
It looks to be a wonderful movie that explores relationships among people who have intellectual disabilities-- both romantic and familial. Be sure to add it to your Netflix queue!
