A Terrific Day for a Walk!

The 2015 Southern New England Walk for Williams was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, or volunteered for this fundraiser that is so close to our hearts. We had 150-200 people in attendance and although we won't have our final numbers for a few weeks, we have by my count raised over $16,000 for the Williams Syndrome Association. I think we also owe Mother Nature our appreciation for not raining on us!

Party Time D.J. Mike Rutkowski kept the energy going for us from set up that morning at 7am until the Walk concluded at 12pm. He led games for the kids, contests for families and was an excellent M.C. for our activities. Mike really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great event (and he became Sawyer's new best friend). We already have dibs on him for this weekend next year!

Also, big thanks to our face painter Kara Andrews from Art on the Spot and to Hands in Harmony Music Therapy for their demonstration. Scott Allen brought his NASCAR stock car with the WSA logo on it for photographs. And we had a great Zumba warm up to walking!

Once again, my nephews mopped up with raffle wins (I didn't win a ding dong thing), and people took home some fantastic items including jewelry, Red Sox tickets, luggage and more. We truly appreciate the many individuals and businesses who donated items for the raffle tent. And a big thanks to Rose Gianopoulos for her delicious cake donation. It was a sweet way to finish our Walk!

Finally, thank you to our business sponsors who supported the Walk for Williams: Speech and Voice Therapy of Foxboro, Pediatric Specialists of Foxboro and Wrentham, Dr. Karen Levine, Tastefully Simple Consultant Kathleen Lawson, Pediatric Dental Center of Mansfield, Normandy Farms, and Sarah Montani Photography.

I think everyone had a fantastic time (I know I did) and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year! Thank you for your support of Team Sawyer and The Walk for Williams.

Launch Fundraiser Tomorrow!

Our fundraiser at Launch Trampoline  Park in Norwood is tomorrow, Friday May 8th, 4-8pm. I will be there with information on WS and the Walk for Williams. Bring your friends and have some fun while supporting the Williams Syndrome Association! You can print the flyer below or just mention the fundraiser at the admission desk.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Walk for Williams so far! Team Sawyer has raised about $2363 so far (not counting some checks I recently received in the mail) and the Walk as a whole has raised $11,618 to support the many programs of the Williams Syndrome Association. Hooray!

We have lots of great raffle items for the Walk, and anyone is welcome to come by Diamond Hill State Park and purchase tickets for a chance to win. Here are just a few of the great prizes-- I'll post a full list next week as we finalize all of the details.

You can still register to walk as a team online until Wednesday the 13th. After that, you will have to register on-site the day of the Walk. Click HERE if you want to register now.

Finally, Sawyer's sedated CT last week showed that he has some stenosis of his right renal artery, however, it is not severe enough to require any kind of intervention. It is difficult to get a good blood pressure reading on Sawyer, and coupled with his anxiety it is hard to tell what is a legitimate reading, white coat hypertension or someone who just can't take a good blood pressure. On average, his BP is not high enough to warrant medication, so we are continuing to monitor everything for the time being. So, hooray for that!
